Our Team
Dr. Michael, Owner
Dr. Joshua Michael was born and raised in the Houston area, graduating from Concordia Lutheran High School. He grew his passion for sports while playing football, baseball, and track and accepted a football scholarship to Tabor College in Kansas. After transferring to Georgia Southern University, Dr. Michael turned his focus to the recovery of athletes off the field and earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, specializing in Exercise Science and Nutrition. He furthered his studies at Texas Chiropractic College where he graduated magna cum laude with his Doctorate in Chiropractic. Dr. Michael is also certified in Acupuncture.
Dr. Michael has experience treating a variety of patients including professional athletes, children, and geriatrics. He is extremely passionate about helping people from all backgrounds maintain an active lifestyle and preserve their quality of life through chiropractic care. Dr. Michael utilizes a wide range of chiropractic techniques, physiotherapies, and nutritional counseling to address various healthcare needs in a holistic approach.
When out of the office, you’ll find Dr. Michael spending time with his family and two dogs. He and his wife have two young sons, Jack and Braxton, that keep their heads on a swivel! He and his family are actively involved at River Pointe Church. Dr. Michael also volunteers with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the Corral Club. When he’s not on Dad duty, Dr. Michael also enjoys playing golf, sitting poolside with his boys watching college football, and traveling to new places.
Madison, Office Manager
Madison was raised in Sugar Land and attended Fort Bend Christian Academy before going to Auburn University for college. She later became a hair stylist and opened her own business in the Sugar Land area. She loved making people feel better about themselves and always made sure they left better than they arrived. While she has left that industry for the time being to focus on her family, she is excited to now be joining Dr. Michael at RFC to give their patients that same feeling!
Madison, who has experienced chronic migraines and infertility, is a strong believer in chiropractic care and acupuncture and has a heart for those also going through chronic pain and health struggles. Her and her husband truly hope to give all of their patients encouragement and be a part of their journey to healing and wellness.
Outside of the office, Madison can be found with her husband and boys at a local park, drinking a margarita at the local Mexican restaurant, or spending time with her girlfriends. Madison also runs an embroidery business, Jack and James Co. The Michael family is always on the go!

Many chiropractors treat children! In fact, some parents bring their children in for visits shortly after birth. Early chiropractic care can assist Mom and baby with feeding issues, sleep quality, and overall comfort. Dr. Michael can also help with any muscle tension associated with torticollis! In older children, you may notice they have neck or back pain. These are common complaints regardless of whether your kids lead active or sedentary lifestyles. Active kids can knock their spine out of alignment as they run, jump, or fall. Kids who log plenty of screen time often experience neck pain or aches in their wrists. Most patients experience a popping or cracking sound during spinal manipulation. This is not dangerous, and it typically does not cause discomfort for patients. This sound occurs because gas and fluids are moving through your spine. Your body depends on fluids to lubricate the bones between each section of your spinal joints, so it's normal to have this fluid in your skeletal system. Sometimes, Dr. Michael will use something called an activator instead of doing a traditional spinal manipulation. You may not hear or feel that same “pop”, but the results are just as great!

Every situation is unique, but yes, it's generally okay to get chiropractic adjustments after back surgery. Dr. Michael will carefully review your surgery notes to make sure you're a good candidate for post-surgery adjustments. Some patients find they only need cervical adjustments after back surgery, but it depends on your symptoms. Surgery often weakens the surrounding joints and muscles because they overcompensate during the recovery process. Chiropractic care can tackle these issues without disturbing the area where you received surgical treatment.

We treat patients who do not have referrals from their primary care physicians or other medical providers. In fact, some patients visit us before they see another doctor. However, some insurance providers still require prior authorization for patients. Check with your insurance company before you schedule an appointment at Richmond Family Chiropractic. We're happy to verify benefits for you if you need help understanding what your plan covers.

Some patients only visit us a handful of times. Other patients require weeks or months of consistent care. The amount of time required for your recovery depends on a number of factors, including the severity of your condition and the level of improvement you desire. Some patients want their pain to reach a manageable level, while others want to visit us until it disappears completely. Talk to us about your goals so we can develop a treatment plan tailored toward your wishes.

We know the needles can look intimidating, but acupuncture treatments are not painful! Acupuncture is performed with hair-thin needles that do not resemble the pain felt from a hypodermic needle. Patients often fall asleep and are in deep relaxation on the table. We’ve converted even the most needle-phobic patients into acupuncture fans!

Acupuncture is safe during pregnancy and can help relieve many pregnancy and postpartum conditions. Because there are some acupuncture points that are contraindicated during pregnancy, it is important to inform the practitioner if you are pregnant. We highly recommend acupuncture during through your first trimester to help assist embryo development, prevent miscarriage, and address any other symptoms (such as nausea/morning sickness) that may arise.
